Router Table Workbench

December 2019 - On Christmas day, still hobbled after an illness, I decided to start work on a custom workbench with built in router lift and t tracks for my tiny 8’x10’ workspace. Just like baby Jesus would have wanted?

The before ain't pretty. Two harbor freight workbenches in an L formation. Cluttered. Drawers blocked. No room for a router table. This mustn't stand.

Nothing fancy here, but effective. A 2x4 frame with lap joints in 4x4s for legs.

2x3s to support my work surface. The inch difference between the supports and the frame will allow an inch of surface materials to sit flush with the frame.

Leaving the work surface for last so I can reach through the frame to install the legs.

Such care. Such precision. Such effortless plywood grace. Am I actually getting the hang of this stuff?

MDF top surface isn't as pretty as plywood, but it's nice and smooth and will work great for sliding things across the router. Notice the smart display for watching football while I build. A tech nerd to my core.

Table plate is in! Taking extra care to line up my T tracks before routing channels into my work surface.

Goodness. That's pretty. Clamps in place and ready to roll.
