MAME/Emulator Arcade
March 13, 2016 - When an old friend lists a busted Lethal Enforcers arcade cabinet on facebook marketplace for $100, you don’t stop to ask “What am I gonna do with it?” or “Where am I gonna put it?”. You buy that z’nitch and figure it out.
Uhhh… PC based MAME/emulation arcade? Works for me!
Large, in charge, and took two big guys a lot of struggling to get off a truck and into the house. Criminy.
As cool as the old original electronics are, I have no desire to try and rescue them. Friggin neato, though.
I figured out how to fit the shell down the stairs to the basement!
Internal setup - a cheap TV mounted in place with some angle iron, an Alienware Alpha PC as the brain, and a USB hub connecting all the controllers.
Testing the emulator. MDF in place for the new control panel.
Custom button layout all wired up and ready for paint.
Mario Kart 64 on an arcade cabinet. Because Mario Kart.
In an effort to save space, I hacked the whole cabinet in half vertically and kept only the front half. Tadaa!
Mirrored display to my main theater setup. So Gameboy Zelda played on a 120” 4k projector using an Xbox 360 controller. Yeah. Wrap your head around that.
